Fissure Sealants for healthy kids teeth
Protecting Your Child’s Smile with Fissure Sealants
Deep grooves and pits in children’s teeth, especially molars, can increase the risk of decay. At Kids Dental and My Braces, we often recommend fissure sealants as a preventive solution to keep your child’s teeth healthy. Early checkups, as soon as 6 months, allow us to identify if fissure sealants are needed.

Fissure sealants
Some children’s teeth have deep grooves and pits which can make them more likely to experience dental decay. We identify these teeth and advise the placement of fissure sealants.
Fissure sealants are white or clear plastic coatings that we place on the teeth in order to prevent future dental decay. Fissure sealants are non-invasive and simple to place. Commonly, molar (baby and or adult) teeth tend to have deep fissures and we recommend fissure sealants if we think they will be beneficial for your child’s teeth. Fissure sealants can last up to few years. However, when sealants wear down with time then they can be repaired or re-done as needed.
What Are Fissure Sealants?
Fissure sealants are a non-invasive, protective coating applied to the grooves of teeth to prevent cavities. This thin, clear or white layer shields vulnerable areas from food particles and bacteria, reducing the risk of decay.
How Are Fissure Sealants Applied?
The process is simple and pain-free. After a thorough cleaning, the sealant is painted onto the tooth’s surface, where it hardens quickly to form a strong barrier that can last for years. As long as the sealant remains intact, it effectively protects your child’s teeth from decay.
Why we may recommend Fissure Sealants?
Fissure sealants are especially beneficial for children as their dental habits are still developing. By sealing off deep grooves in molar teeth, you significantly reduce the chances of cavities and the need for more invasive treatments later.
Take the Next Step for Your Child’s Oral Health By incorporating fissure sealants into your child’s dental care routine, you’re making an essential investment in their long-term oral health.
